Monday, June 17, 2013 Model A Monday!

With a major chop and tractor grill, it's almost hard to recognize this 30-31 tudor as a Model A. Freaky frame treatment too!

the low looks cool but, I'm gonna ask,
is it legal?
is it drivable?
if not is it a show rod? or a show only rat rod?

Good point. You would think that it was bagged. But looking at the front end and location of the shocks then that makes you wonder. Would like to view the front end and how it is built. But a show rat only? Again what does it ride on?

Very nice, love the chop
Love building rat rods, driving mustangs, and building websites.

I'm gonna agree with you, obama. You know my old saying: "Not all trailer queens are shiny."  A company in my area built a severely whacked truck, then had to place a classified ad in the local newspaper for someone 5'3" or less to drive it to events! (It's true: I actually read the ad). Many rat rods today are built simply for shock value and wow factor; there is no way they are drivers - other than to and from the trailer of course. Here's a couple of the most notorious examples, the Ankle Biter '34 Ford PU (36" tall) and this Model A sedan (37" tall).

Nonetheless, I still think they're cool and fun for what they are: SHOW CARS! Hey, if we wanted safe, legal and practical we'd all be building Volvos!

Yeah, I agree with the sentiment about driveability, but I know I drive our coupe a lot, but I still overhear comments at the Safeway parking lot.... "Is that legal, does it run".... Well, how did it get to the parking lot....  And of course at a car show, which make more sense about the question..... "that thing can't be legal"....

Right on Russ. The main legality issues with rats are scrub line, exhaust noise, forward visibility and fenders. But thank goodness the majority of police understand that these are novelty cars that only occasionally see the road, not for daily transportation or commuting.
