HELP NEEDED -- safe way to narrow an I beam front axle
« on: April 14, 2012, 07:48:31 PM »
Is there a safe way to narrow an I beam front axle ??? I have a 40s Ford complete front axle assembly that I'd like to narrow and use on my English Ford Thames 300e van build as $$$ just got very tight  :(
What is this """ stock restoration """ thing you speak of ????

They were made of real forged steel , not cast iron so they are weldable . I had this site saved in my favorites , lots of info , it may help ?  http://www.droppedaxles.com/index.html

YEP  :D The awesome thing is it's complete with spindles , hubs , drums etc. And it was free !!!!
It will not happen till next month though . My friends dad is buying a new snazzy welder and is selling me his 10 year old Lincoln 220 gas mig for $ 100  :D :D :D He is getting his new one mid May  so I'll get back on the little van project then .
