how much do i need to chop the top in inches.

i am not sure how much to chop the top. This will be my 1st project in doing this. i was wondering what everyone is going with.
1947 Dodge pickup, 350/350trans,custom built bobber frame, 9" ford rearend, thumper cam.

#1) How tall are you ?
#2) Most truck cab chops are usually 4" or less if you are over 6 feet tall
#3) How comfortable do you want to be ?
#4) Is this going to be a long distance driver ?
#5) More is not always better
#6) The more you chop , the harder it is to line everything up

totally agree, 4" or less anymore then that and you will hit your head hard when you hit a bump.

agreed with everyone else i chopped my bug 1 1/2 inches and its kinda hard to see out of the side windows  :o maybe find one similar to what you want and see how it fits you and your wants most guys will let you "try it on for size"

cool thanks guy's. I am sitting on the floor as of right now. i have a new set of older style dodge charger seats in it now and i am to high. i pulled the drivers seat out and sitting on the floor is just right. so i will have no trouble with clearance on the top. i am thinking of putting in a tractor seat. or might just use a cushion.
I think the cab needs cut down. i have over a foot of clearance as it sets. I have been looking at others on the site and have learned a bunch. but isn't like doing it for the first time.
