Some credit the Sailor Jerry car with starting the whole Model A Tudor rat rod craze. Maybe it was the Gas Monkey sedan that kicked ass on all the Ferrari's in the 2007Cannonball Run. In any case, here's a military-themed '28-'29 with six two's on a log manifold.

BTW, I remember the issue of Car and Driver magazine that had a photo of the Gas Monkey tudor which won the Cannonball. It was the first rat rod I'd ever seen. I didn't know about airbags then and wondered how it could drive sitting virtually flat on the ground. I was aghast at the rustiness and thought maybe the photos were taken before the car was finished. And how could they drive it cross country with no windows? It looked completely primitive. The Ferrari owners were pissed, endlessly accusing Gas Monkey of cheating. There were numerous letters to the editor denouncing the car as "unsafe." LOL, sound familiar? Unfortunately, I can't find any photos of the car now.

I've always loved the car, but I had no idea that they ran it in the Cannonball.

I don't know if Richard still owns that or not. He did own a Ferrari that sold at Barrett - Jackson on Saturday for 600K and change. And the Ferrari was owned by his buddy and sometimes financial backer Dennis. It was bought by Mr. October. Reggie Jackson.

Thanks for that photo! It looks much more finished than the pic I saw in Car and Driver. They probably rebuilt it like they do everything.

You're welcome! Here's another one; it's the only photo that I've found of it before it was completed. Looks like some pretty nice work:

Yeah, that's more how it looked in Car and Driver. That article also confirms that it is the car that was built for the Bull Run, so I assume it's also the same one they ran in the Cannonball. Interesting, that the body is welded to the frame (ie "unibody").

I noticed that too, and technically that's correct with that configuration; it is indeed a unibody. Mine won't be though and if my CRS hasn't kicked in fully, I don't recall yours being that way either.
