Topic: Help with my steering box

I'm building a rat rod from the ground up. Made my own frame and body. BUT  I'm having trouble with my steering gear box and I need some HELP.  I have a dual spring Plymouth front end, straight axle and I am assuming it uses the side steering. I need to know what the best setup is to make this work without spending my whole paycheck. And there is not a lot of room with the V8 I stuck in it. Can anyone help. [attachimg=1]

I assume you've been perusing catalogs with those $300 Vega, Saginaw and Corvair steering boxes.  Forget that and use a junkyard box.

My last two builds have utilized Dodge pickup and Corvair manual boxes, $60 and $75 respectively. Tell the junk yard to leave the pitman arm on and you've saved another $50. There's an article here on RRN about how to reverse Corvair boxes for your side steer setup.

That's what i would do too......Save some cash and use the xtra money to buy any other parts you may need.
