Rat Trailer
« on: September 05, 2012, 05:06:40 PM »
I know this is not your everyday build but recently my brother purchased a nice little trailer in need of some minor alterations . This is a trailer that is normaly pulled behind a Goldwing or other large cruiser bike and we thought it would be just right to pull to distant shows behind his '36 Dodge truck . We have needed something to haul the ezy-up canopy and suitcases in . So here we go . The color is just all wrong , so off comes the yellow and here come the hotrod flatz low gloss black . I thought the tail lights absolutely sucked so we will be making a few changes there with some '59 caddy lights . This will be a quickie job as it has to be ready to go to the REDNECK RUMBLE on sept. 13. and I have to fab a complete hitch assembly for the truck also , so time is premium on this deal .

It looks as though the only day without rain this week will be sunday , so me not having a climate controlled paint booth its not looking to sporty but I will give it my best shot . I guess after church sunday morning and the double header baseball game for my son I could come down to the shop and spray it , Who needs a day off anyway ...

My original plan was to build a scaled down teardrop trailer using aluminum sheets and hammered rivets with the cool multi-pane roll out window , but it still may happen soon . The whole thing is we got such a good deal on this one , we couldn't pass it up . you never know this one may be for sale  when the other one gets built .

Since the trailer did not make the Rumble this year it just gives us more time to tinker around with it.  Roll on brother!
