license plates for fan shroud?
« on: April 09, 2014, 04:52:26 PM »
Would license plates work good for a fan shroud. My truck was getting hot at idle after about ten minutes in 70° weather this will not be good when it gets warmer so I want to add a shroud do you think plates are stout enough I have a bunch of them....also will be changing thermostat and running a very strong water Mix for summer

Yup, just may then tight enough not to flex, or bang around.

Heck yeah, they'd make a great shroud. I'm surprised no one has done it before - you'd be the first! Maybe rivet them together?

I figured I would drill and bolt...may use some stainless too was originally just going to make a circle around fan but am thinking I need to go out all the way to the corners of radiator to do any good so may have some 14 GA broke like I want and use plates on part of it using it as a shell

Had a thought while reading this post.  If you have, or can get license plates that are dated to the same year as your ride it might look cool.
