In a vote of 69 to 27 Monday night, the U.S. Senate passed the Marketplace Fairness Act, which gives states the power to force retailers outside their borders to collect online sales tax. The bill now heads to the House of Representatives where it faces an uncertain future.
Please write your congress person and ask them to vote no on this act. We are already hurting enough in this economy and this bill will increase the price on anything we order online. Companies will have to increase prices to pay someone to now collect a states tax for you, and then pay the tax to the state you are from. This is for every state in the union.
