The pink nightmare
« on: November 30, 2012, 07:07:40 PM »
Here she is, pink as shit.

Started right up with a bit of white smoke from old fuel I bet. I have to get the lights and such put back and then an inspection from the highway patrol and hopefully a title.

We have not had any winter yet this year so I want to take advantage and start the process.

I must fix the color fairly soon. I am gonna tune it up and try to get a mile or two in before the snow flies.

Then, have the drive train squared away by spring.

I like it. I don't think i would change the pink at all.
Love building rat rods, driving mustangs, and building websites.

Ok, so the deal is done. I am the proud owner of the caddy.

Now I have been thinking about the SBC thing and I think I may want to go with a BBC instead. Probably a 454.

So what kind of tranny should go on the back of it? I am not building a race car, just a cruiser. I want to be able to run down the highway.

Either a turbo 400 very strong 1:1 high gear ratio or a 700R4 not as strong but overdrive with @ .78:1 ratio .

It has a 390 and a hydromatic, the 390 is knocking and not in a good way. I am trying to build this to be a dependable family car.

My budget will not allow what I really want which is a caddy 500. Now I have some headaches at work and we may be looking at layoffs so I am trying to get this thing built while I still have a job. The 454 seems like the easiest, most cost effective way.

Ha ha, most guys I know build cars while they are laid off.  It's the only time you have enough time!

Well, I have started the project, I gotta get it running with lights and such so I can get the inspection done and get a title.

Now I have had 3 guys who are interested in the current motor. Perfect
