Rod seatquestion
« on: December 07, 2011, 03:26:37 PM »
Anyone ever used a tractor seat in a rod??
was going to buy some seats then thought about making some but now back to thinking about buying some...saw some cool tractor seats, like the look and size, have sat in one just like on a John deer tractor and it felt pretty good..
Any thoughts?

I have a friend of mine that bought seats for a riding lawn mower........they are black, comfortable and actually looked good. They have a real low back, so if your top is chopped you still get a backrest.
Love building rat rods, driving mustangs, and building websites.

With your skills why don't you build or buy something like this . http://www.ebay.com/itm/220906607720?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:VRI&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2661

I plan on useing something like this in the coupe I am building . They don't look all that difficult to build , I bought all the stuff to do hammered rivets for under $150 . If you go to an upolstry supply you can get that vinyl very cheap already pleated . A 4x8 sheet of .064 aluminum runs around $120 . I think you could make six seats from one sheet . Okay I've talked myself into building some  ;D
That's not dust in your eyes ...... it's RUST !!!

You can do what ya want, but keep in mind that on a tractor you sit differently than in a car, with a tractor your legs are down almost to the point of standing, and you sit straight up, with a low back seat so you can turn around. Most folks want a car seat to be more like a recliner, deep butt, legs up sorta. Just stuff to think about.
