Will be working on my 46 today
« on: July 03, 2011, 05:05:16 AM »
My son is here for a short visit (just the weekend) and he has been helping me with my Ranger. Today we will start welding the roof back together on the 46. He's never done it before and is stoked about it. I told him we need to build him a toy and he is interested.  ;D
I'll get more pics as I go.

That is what needs to be happening....getting the next generation into the hobby and keeping it going
Take a kid to a car or bike show...pass the hobby on to the next generation

My son stayed and helped for most of the day, we streached the roof and welded most of it together and he loved it. Will get some progress pics soon, didn't get a chance to get any action shots

That is great, carvinmark, anytime we can get the next generation involved it really does instill them with knowledge that will be remembered later on. I am a big advocate for kids and cars. I preach taking kids to car shows and swap meets and bike shows. I do realize some of the shows get wild and those you find a baby sitter for, but on the most part it is good to get them around the cruise-ins and such, give them a taste of the culture...my son loves cars and he already has a  Hudson on his brain and he is only ... 8)

Thanks. I proped the front up to where I want it, about 6-8" higher than stock. Got some very cool ideas about streatching the hood and fenders as well as shoving the firewall out about 6". Not planning to run the hood side curtians lol cause there won't be any room for them

Good idea on stretching the hood height...and no side panels will be dual functioned, looking cool and help cool the engine a little more...plus you won't have to prop the hood open at the shows....that's what is making this web site successful...ideas thrown out there and people helping people, you won't find that in the street rod or custom scene web sites...People don't like to share their building ideas in most cases but here we all can learn from one another. We all have to say thanks once again to Hotwheels for building the best car culture web site out there..... :D

Agree the front end with the chop seams to be a good combo on the truck, keep them photo's coming.

I agree stretching the firewall 6" is the only way to go , We build these cars and trucks to drive , why not make them comfortable !
