My 28 Tudor build
« on: May 15, 2014, 08:36:18 PM »
I've had this car a while now but life got in the way and also have been trying to finish my other truck.  Anyway here's the start of this build!  I will be asking lots of questions along the way but here's what I've got for now

Frame table setup

Started on the perimeter frame

Tranny Xmember

Motor mounts..

This is where I'm at now... About to cut the frame off the table and set to ride height. However I've ran into a snag with my spindles... Trying to source what steering arms I need with a spring behind the axle

LOL, I just finished my '28 tudor build so there definitely is an opening now.  Looks like you're already a skilled fabricator.

Where ya from? I noticed lots of Canadian symbols on the wall, so I'm guessing Ontario somewhere. I've heard they're pretty strict on hot rods up there.  I lived in SK for several years.

Thanks for the compliments!  I'm in Ontario. Not too far from London...  Yeah they can be strict but it's hit and miss I've never had any issues (knock on wood)

Excellent work! I'm building a '30 Tudor waaay south of you in Texas and I'm a little farther along than you are, but I'm sure that you'll pass me right up. What are your plans for the drive train and suspension?

A Ford engine would be my second choice but since I'm a Mopar guy, I chose a Dodge 360. What kind of rear end are you going with? I've been looking at the Ford 8.8".

I just tack it to make sure nothing moves ;)  fussy like that.  Built my ranger frame that way and it came out just how I wanted!

Ha ha, I do mine on the ground. If I'm crooked on one side, then I just compensate on the other side. Two wrongs make a right and somehow they always end up going straight down the road. Hey, we ain't building Swiss watches here!

Well making more progress. Got the rims I'll be running.. 20" rears and 18" fronts. Rears will be 6" wide fronts 4" don't mind the tire. I'll be getting whitewalls

The rears will have to be narrowed so I made up a fixture to check them during the process.  I'll be cutting the centers out. Then narrowing them and reinstalling the centers

you are so far ahead of the game being able to change width and offset of your wheels , that opens the door for so many possibilities .

Thanks for the compliments... I'll post pics forsure of how I do the rims.. I've never done it before but after looking and staring. And watching how people widen rims I don't see it as being a huge issue..

Yes. I'm going to part off the 2" in the lathe..  I'll cut the centers out before that.  Then once they are narrowed ill use the fixture to true the centers back up when I re install them
