1932 Hudson Town Car
« on: July 08, 2011, 04:53:32 PM »
Here are a couple pics of a new rat i am going to build. Sadly, noone seems to know what the body is. It has 4 suicide doors, which i think is gonna be kewl after i get it built. Gonna put the body on an S10 frame with a chevy 350.

Gonna go with a Hudson Essex. I've seen these with 4 suicide doors but those fenders I'm not sure about. If factory I would need to do a little research.

From my searching via iphone, it appears to be a 1932 Hudson town sedan....bullion was able to come across some pics that seem to verify it. This body has two cowl vents instead of the standard 1.

I guess it will be whatever you find a title for....

Hudson sounds right, looks like a fun build.  You sure you want an S 10 frame, instead of welding or buying?

Looks to be a 32 Hudson Essex....look at this photo of Amelia Earhardt and her 32 Hudson Essex

That looks pretty close tattoodaddy, but i can't see the cowl vent. This car has 2 of them on the top of the cowl, most hudson's i have run across show 1 and the town sedan has 2...........so i know we are in the right era.

As far as the frame goes, the guy i am building this for chose to go this route. He found the S10 with a running 350 conversion, for $600 bucks. Since it will have all the wiring, brakes, drivetrain, etc....he felt this would be a better way to go. So i will probably chop the top and channel the body......But we'll play that part by ear. Since it isn't my ride,  i have to kind of go the direction the owner wants. But it is my canvas to build up from.

Hopefully once i get the body here and actually see it in person, we will get a better idea of what it is. Right now the guy has only sent me pictures via iphone.  Atleast i know we are in the ball park and know which parts car i need to find parts for....

Right on tatoodaddy.........Hopefully there will be some sort of markings on the body somewhere to help identify it........Most of the pictures i have seen show the cowl having once vent, this one actually has to vents on the cowl.......

Get me a pic of the ID tag on the firewall, if it is still there, and I will figure it out if you need me too, Man I have nothing to do all day. The doctors won't let me work, and I am still way too weak to work on anything, so if anyone needs parts found or bodies IDed or engine numbers ran....I AM HERE TO HELP ;D

Well i got the entire front end taken apart today. Fired up the truck yesterday and it was smokin pretty bad but the battery is shot too, so right now i can't do a compression check on the engine. I pulled the plugs and they all show good and no signs of a head gasket leak yet........The owner is supposed to be picking up a battery tonight and dropping it off so i can check the compression. Hopefully the engine isn't shot, i don't feel like rebuilding one right now but i recon if that's the route he wants to go, we'll git r dun......Radiator has a hole in it too.

Pics attached......

it is never as easy as if you were building it for yourself . I think you can make it happen if you can get the owner on board with you .

Well the guy i am building this for told me he was going to go get a battery after work and drop it off. Here it is 9:00pm and no battery. I have a feeling this is going to be a long drawn out nickel and dime job at this pace........I think when i do see him, i am going to have to tell him he needs to give me some cash so i can buy stuff for this build.. This is why i hate building for other people or fixing cars for others, they want the world but only for pennies. Alright, i am going to use some profanity now "PROFANITY"......OKAY, i feel better now.

That's why you need to get a substantial down payment up front when working for other people... ;)
