460 Ford?
« on: October 02, 2012, 11:49:21 PM »
I have the opportunity to buy a 1973 Lincoln 460 engine and trans for $500.  I presume this is the same engine as the Ford unit?  Anyone have any experience with these?  Pretty heavy I assume; too much for a 33 pickup?  Gobs o' torque?  Rat rod material or not?

if i remeber correctly that engine was trying to hard for no reason. it had a terrible power to weight ratio but it would make your heart do backflips with the low bass note that it belched out.

It's the same engine as ford trucks.......would make a great rat rod motor. As stated, it's a big block.......
Love building rat rods, driving mustangs, and building websites.

Thanks for the advice.  I definitely inclined to get it now, especially since a C6 is included at that price.

There is something about having a Ford engine in a Ford vehicle,
Weird.  But cool.
Lots'o torque.

No, but now I wish I had!  Looks like I'll be running the aluminum 215 in the cee-dan.

You passed it up? Oh man. Those were cool. Put the big brother of one of those in a Cobra replica before. Sure, it was actually a 502 but the point is the torque had the potential to make you shit your pants from the potential for disaster but smile at having survived it.
