Seems like everyone has their hands out
« on: June 28, 2018, 08:40:11 AM »
Been kind of crazy watching the added costs of running a website.
1) cost of a .com name every year
2) monthly server cost ( forcing an upgrade by resource limit reached))
3) now google, Firefox, and a couple others trying to force https upgrade.

If you notice in the address bar before you actually log in, it says “website not secure”. It actually is secure but allot of search engines are forcing website owners to pay $80.00 bucks a year for https, instead of http. I hate how greedy the internet is becoming.
Used to be able to purchase a .com for $9.00 bucks a year, now it’s $30.00 bucks. A server used to be $9 to $12.00 bucks a year, now it’s $34.00.
I don’t mind paying to have a website based on a hobby I enjoy, but it’s getting pretty sad that more and more sites like google are forcing little guys like myself to pay $80.00 bucks a year to be on a search engine or be labeled a not secure website. Sad times.

Oh, and the $80.00 bucks a year is the least expensive package. The top package is $427.00 bucks a year. Greedy f*cks. Excuse my French...

WOW  :o  Didn't know all that. Guess I  never really thought about it. Need to start a go fund me page so that they can also tap into any money raised :o  Didn't the hyper text help with the costs before? Noticed they are not on here any more.

Na, those ads took up so much space it was annoying. I can afford most of the stuff, but this new force to https so google can make money off our site pisses me off. They put that “website not secure” in the address bar making it seem like this site is bad. It’s almost like blackmail. If the move was free or part of being on our server I would be okay with it.

Hey man, I don't mind kickin in something to the cause. I'll bet others feel same way. Maybe a small membership fee is in order for your time, effort, and expense? Just throwing it out there. Much appreciated. Thank you.
Me and my 5 year old son Matthew Sixx have built this truck. It is his, just ask him. Matty is number 6 of six kids, therefore named. Have driven for a out 3 years, decided to do engine transplant this winter(explains towbar) Really into answering any questions regarding S10 frame swap/track width

I really appreciate that and know we have some of the best members around. Let me see how bad this new https thing is gonna be. I hope it’s like everything else, once the newness wears off, the price will drop.
