Newby from FL!
« on: June 21, 2016, 09:41:31 AM »
Hello all! My name is Kevin.I am 33 yrs old.I have been an ASE certified auto tech for 15 yrs. This looks like a cool site.I look forward to making friends and hopefully getting help for my rat rod truck project. Its a 1935 International 1/2 ton pick up.My dad has owned it since I was knee high to a grass hopper.I remember playing in the truck as a kid. It's kind of like a member of the family.Dads in his 70's now and still hasn't finished it.He recently gave it to me.It is mostly rust free.Has a 70's Pontiac 10 bolt rear end,a corvair front end, original un-modified frame, fenders, running boards, bed and no modifications to the cab.Only thing its missing is a tailgate and the windows..Even has the original grill and radiator.Currently no motor/trans.I am planning on either a 500ci caddy motor/TH400 trans or a 1948 Dodge 230ci/3 spd manual trans{I currently have both}.Havn't decided which one yet.Going to go back to a straight axle front end.Low,loud and mean looking is the plan.Possibly chopping the top.Kind of playing it by ear.

I found a cool site. All high performance parts for 500 caddys.Already have an edelbrock intake.Planning on building short zoomy drag style headers, mild cam and a big ass carb. The TH400 is a TCI street/strip unit with a stall convertor. It hits gears HARD! Motor and trans are currently in an 81 rust bucket chevy truck.

I realize that that Quadra-Jet carb on the Caddy engine ain't the "cool factor" carb you hear about in the magazines and it may not be all that pretty, BUT it is an 850 cfm four barrel carb with vacuum secondaries and delivers MIUCH better gas mileage than almost anything but EFI on a big engine like that.  They are also found on MANY NHRA world record holding cars!!

If you still have the carburetor, give it serious consideration in your plans for that engine!!  They work well in pairs too!!

I have a buddy over in Nashville that'll make that Q-Jet scream!!  He ain't cheap, but he guarantees satisfaction.  I've NEVER had a problem dealing with him and he always makes good on his work!!

He has also held numerous World Records in NHRA Super Stock and is a wizard with a distributor.
