New shop shelves
« on: March 26, 2018, 08:17:19 AM »
Well I finally had enough of those metal shelves I have in my shop and decided to build some real shelves. Here’s a pic of the first section.

I was laying in the bed the other morning, (I'm STILL not healed up from all the foot surgery) and trying to further justify building a new shop. I counted five running, titled, licensed, vehicles, two big personal projects, (one I'm building and one that is being disassembled for parts) three projects in different stages of completion that belong to others, my reloading stuff, my band PA system, and numerous other items that could and SHOULD be put in the new garage!!

This does not include the wife's riding and push mowers and her garden and lawn stuff, (I'll probably leave her stuff in one of the two large sheds I have on the property and use the other shed, (it holds our motorcycles and a few vehicle related items) for a mechanical shed to house a compressor, a much larger water heater, and my generator, plus some added storage!!

I also have a 4' X 8' rolling work table, a big Snap=On "taco wagon" tool box, a smaller seven drawer "quickie" tool cabinet,  a large rolling torch setup, a MiG welder, and the tubing bender, and  a small brake on the way sometime soon!!

I do intend to put up a carport on the other side of the house for two of the vehicles, but do ya's think I might orta add another 20' on the building for a 40' X 80' shop???   :o :P

I would add to it if you can. Make it a separate section for painting or complete project storage. I want to do that with mine, probably only 12’ ceilings.

To much stuff in mine for a man cave. Did think about it at one time.

Depends on the results of my appraisal on the refy to pay for it.  Looking at 80% on  $1XX,000.00 but heard Thursday that I MAY be $25,00.00 low on my initial estimate.  That could give me and extra $15K or so to put into the new construction.  Maybe spend it on a lift and some extra equipment.

I'm not a pack-rat per se!!  I DO hang on to some things for long periods before they're finished or installed in some ten year project like my Jeep truck!!  At present I have three engine and transmission combinations at the other shop and my son's old Camaro that is soon to be stripped and sold, (already have a deal on the rolling chassis and body).

Parts of the band PA haven't been used in two or three years, but one big show where I'd have to rent that kind go gear and I pay for that rig twice and not make an extra dime!!

The best news of the week is that my doctor has released me from the wound care and surgery unit and I CAN go back to wearing a shoe on the bad foot.  A couple or three more weeks and I'll be allowed to walk around some!!  TOMORROW will be ONE YEAR since this ordeal/journey began!!

Sadly I’m a pal rat. Not sure why, but I always feel I may be able to use something down the road.

Got a little more done this week...
