problems with daily driver
« on: September 29, 2017, 07:25:48 PM »
The daily driver decided to lay down on me last Tuesday ,but with the silly hours we've been working tonight I finally got to tear her down. Never seen a head crack in 2 places. It was the two cylinders that the 2 sparkplugs came out of. Seriously considering pulling the other side just to check it out. 3.0 V6 Ford in a Ranger. Looks like it has roller tappets.
life is a ride where you slide into heaven sideways on 4 flats blown motor saying Thank you God what a ride!!!!!

A lot of times, the crack you see is just the largest one.  I've seen many heads cracked in two combustion chambers.  Pulling the other head is the correct response!!  In your situation, putting it back together only to find it's still broke is the worst scenario.  So many of the new engines are cast really thin!!  It just doesn't make sense to me to take a chance!!

Good idea to pull the other side. I've encountered many 3.0 V6s with cracked heads, they are notorious for that.
