The rat bulb (Rat Ideas)
« on: February 09, 2012, 05:01:37 PM »
So hopefully no one has made a thread like this before.

(Mods: if someone has, feel free to close this post, my apologies)

So my idea for this thread is that you come here to post any car idea you have. Not something you built, but just an idea. Whether it is realistic or just insane doesn't matter, as long as it's an idea. Here's mine: (I'd like to make it someday, if anyone has a frame idea, let me know please)

Basics:

1970-1978 Gremlin body (hood and fenders removed, tubbed, leaned down in the front, I.E. rear of body taller than front of body)
Long frame (about 185 inches)
Jeep 401 V8

Exterior mods:

1949 Ford COE front end (thinned to width of the Gremlin)

1968 Ford Mustang tail lights

Gremlin X graphics over rust/fading paint

Interior:

No carpet

Chain steering wheel

Roll bar

Bomber seats

Wheels/tires

Americanshifter.com Mr. Dean Shift knob
32” double bend shifter

Rear: Radir wheels(16”) wrapped in Radir cheater slicks with pie crusts and flag tread (12.00-16")

Front: Magnesium gray w/ machined lip torq thrusts (15”) wrapped in Firestone nostalgia tires (5.00-15)

ok guys, your turn!  :D

OK my turn:

1970 Chevy short bed 1/2 ton pickup fleet side, bed molded to back of cab, top of cab removed and custom automatic convertable top.
Fully tubbed rear tires with posi ford rearend.
T56 6 speed Tanny.
Supper rat small block Chevy motor.

OK now for the really trick stuff, the whole truck electrical system run by a PLC with a 12" touch screen, all functions will be accessed through the touch screen, a built in wireless ethernet gate way so I can control every think on the truck with my smart cell phone..and yes I mean everything!
I do programming for a living and have always wanted to do a truck fully controlled by a PLC.

early 60's willys wagen body with minimum 6" chop on custom built zeed frame. cut 4" out of entire length of body just above rear wheel wells. use a gm 2.3 ho 4 cylinder mated to a turbo 350 to a 9". prefer around 3.50 gear ratio. this will cruise freeway speeds nice, run 14 ets and maintain around 35 mpg. use drilled 4" drop front end with drilled split model a wishbones. rack and pinion for tight steering. open wheel up front. 60's tractor grill, custom headlight buckets made out of old galvanized funnels mounted on old running board supports. frenched 59 buick taillights. we will be using metal effects rust finish with a blue patina.
whadaya think?
31 closed cab ford
36 ford truck
59 buick electra
74 rupp centaur
89 olds cutlass 442 international quad 4
90 beretta gtz ho quad 4
85 vette, 3 kikker bobbers and a case of pbr!

I want a mid 40's cab over and i want to put it on a early to mid 90's chevy truck frame, then i want to use a box off of a mid 50's chevy step side box..........I want to keep it somewhat of a short wheel base, but make it something a guy can drive all the time. I want to put a heater in it, stereo, all the good stuff.
Love building rat rods, driving mustangs, and building websites.

Alright here goes mine.
1936 or 37 chevy truck cab and frond clip minus the fenders keep the hood
Early 50s Dodge stepside box minus the fenders (Really like these for some reason)
Layed out on bags or just very low
Chopped 6''
Right hand drive and the license plate will say LEFTY
Twin turbo 4.3l chevy V6 (I like the different engines)
With artillery rims if possible
And a T56 (6 speed) trans
Taking the left for dead automobiles and bringing them back to life for another go at it

WOW, love all these

My ideas run very crazy and pretty damn close to impossible. Here's my next one!

Anyone ever seen in the back of like Hot Rod Magazine or Street Rodder the truck kits that look like early 30s Fords, but are crew cab?
Well you get 4 (yeah, I said 4) 350 V8s all made to look alike, with blowers. Put 2 in the engine bay without the hood sides or top (obviously :D ) and the other two in the back seat. This will require a huge cooling system, taking up some of the bed and whats left of the back area. The engines must be mounted at the same height to make running the transmissions and drive lines together easier. Everything would have to be super built so it didn't snap all the time. I'm thinking bright yellow, it'd be cool I think.

Like I said, far fetched, but still a cool idea.
