Fan/radiator distance
« on: January 02, 2017, 04:53:11 PM »
I have a Walker radiator with all the bells and whistles (radiator, trans cooler, ac, etc) in my 32 pickup with a 350 in it.  My question is how close should the fan be to the radiator to properly cool.  I do not want an electric fan, or shroud, just the 5 blade fan I have.  Comments?  Thanks.

3/4" without a shroud. Half way inside a shroud if you use one.

I'd recommend more blades or a nice shroud.  Like hot wheels said, 3/4" with no shroud, but make sure the fan won't flex forward enough to hit the radiator!

do I need to build a shroud between the radiator and the motor . My elec. fan is in front of the radiator. Or buy one that bolts to the water pump.
And take the elec one off ?

Nah!!  If it cools okay, you're fine.
