A VERY SERIOUS OH S#%T MOMENT
« on: April 05, 2015, 08:20:56 AM »
After the car show I was invited to come out and help rotate stock at a private museum. Now the only way to get in is by invite. Thing were running pretty good till, OH SHIT HIT. The lift was almost to the top when something gave out and this Packard came down. Very lucky group of people in that no one was injured. I was about 10 foot away when she came down.

Ya it was damaged. I will try to find the picture that Paul took of the drivers side.

The drivers side took the big hit. Mainly in the front steering parts.

On the one post the bolt at the top gave way. The weight of the Packard pulled the cable out. Drivers side front tower.

Thank you for the info,
Most lifts have a second safety lock, I would guess it was not adjusted to work properly,  Do you remember what kind of lift?  Kinda looks like a less expensive type, Or at least it was less expensive to buy, not to own.

Sorry bud, I could not tell you the brand. I was told that the gentleman that owns all of that bought 5 lifts in a package deal. He then sent them out to be sand blasted, then painted. I am sure that the brand is somewhere around the lift motor. But then again I didn't go around that part.

With the Packard sitting at half tilt, might not have been too safe for a close look, thank you for the reminder to try to get these things right.
