New build advise and suggestions
« on: November 15, 2014, 08:59:46 AM »
Good Morning All
Just joined today and looking for a little help. I just bought a 1938 Chevrolet pick up with original frame. Frame is in great condition and has a straight axel configuration and everything is there. Pictures will be coming soon. Looking for advise and pictures from other members frame work to put the 38 lower to the ground.

The front axel will be replaced with a new straight that has a 6 inch drop and should sit where I want. I know I'm going to have to cut the rear frame to get the back even with the front. This is where I need your help,  any suggestions are welcome and appreciated, pictures are nice also. Thanks and have a great weekend.

Sounds like you have a good plan. Dropped axle is tried and true method of lowering the front, but I don't know what kind of suspension you're planning for the rear. Parallel leaf, coilover, transverse leaf - each has it's own method of lowering. But yeah, stepping the frame works for all of them!

I agree, each is good for the rear....personally, i would go with a coil over set up....Cost is a little bit high, but it's worth the investment.

Checkers racing has a 4 bar set up with coil overs and panhard bar for $575.
