Topic: sheet metal in western montgomery county pa.?

I'm having a tough time finding a steel supplier in my area (Perkiomenville Pa. right outside of Pottstown). I contacted two, Yarde metals that requires I fill out a business application and tax id.# etc. They quoted $96 for a sheet of 16g 48" x 96" and Hoover steel (waiting to hear back). I never bought anything of that size. Does this price sound about right? I looked online and the shipping alone is $130 for two sheets (Ouch!). Anyone in the area know of someone?

Is there any fab shops around you? I found the place i buy my stuff from( an electric supply place)  from an auto shop that repairs railroad trucks

i am in the Lansdale area and just get 18 ga cold roll steel for about $40.00 a sheet 4 by 10 I had to pick it up in NJ just over the walt whitmen bridge

$40 a sheet, that's sounds really good! I'm just under an hour from the Walt Whitman. It would be worth the trip. What is the name of the place.

fazzio's   1-856-881-3185 they are in Glassboro nj I just bought all the tubing there also for my frame 2 by 4 and angel iron and 1 by tubing there plus five sheets of metal all 4 by 10 .  the only problem I am having is trying to roll the steel . we are now adding heat to it to soften it a little .

We only have one metal shop here in cheyenne. So prices really seem to vary here. So times it feels like your getting a great deal, the next time you buy a sheet of metal, it feels, well, painful......40 bucks is a great price.

Thanks for asking. Fazzio's in Glassboro was alittle further than I thought. I don't know if your aware of it but they also have one in Delaware that is actually a few miles closer for me. I emailed Hoover steel in Schwenksville (twice  ) and they never got back to me. M.B. Glick LLC in Fleetwood is only a half hour from me. $40 for 4'x'8' 16g c.r.s.,  not too bad. Might even be closer to you if your in Lansdale.

I haven't figured that one out yet. I'll be searching for someone who can handle that. That'll be the next step after I get the steel. I'll need one 80 inch long 90 degree bend in each sheet (pick-up bed sides).

If you need, instead of paying to have your metal bent for the box, just have another piece cut same length X 3" and weld it at  45*.

Depending where (haven't found anone who does it, yet) and how much I probably don't have much of a choice but to do that,.

before you do that let me know . I have sheet metal brakes that well problily bend that for you , you would have to drive down to the end of the blue rt. below the airport on 95 . if I can't I have friends with prepress brakes also and I know they can .
