drill press issues

(1/2) > >>

BobA:
I have a craftsman drill press thats about 10-15 years old. When trying to notch metal it is just acting sluggish. It also got hungup and the round assembly that holds the bit came sliding out. Theres no screws or anything that holds it up inside. Guess its just pressed inside? Is it time to go shopping for a new press?

Cornfield Customs:
take pics of what came out and where it goes. as far as it being sluggish, it might need new belts. i usually have to replace mine every couple years

BobA:
Thanks. Have to wait to get my new phone for a camera. Should have it by saturday. I'll look at the belt as well.

Rubberhead:
I bought one at Harbor Freight and when I assembled it, I was surprised to see that the chuck assembly is a press fit on the shaft. I just put it on by hand and it's been working great ever since.

BobA:
Heres a couple pic's. Hopefully they'll come through.
