36 ford 1 1/2 ton
« on: February 09, 2012, 04:58:37 PM »
i just started this project a while back. hoping to have done by summer this year. i started with a 36 1 1/2 ford that seen better days (perfect rat material :})and am transforming it into a pickup. i did a roof for a neighbor on his cabin in exchange for the truck. about 800.00 value. im combining both 36 frame and 64 f100 frame to build this.i got the box for 25.00 at a swap meet. its off a 54-56 f100. i bought an extra set of front fenders to use for rears at the monroe swap meet for a 100 bucks. i bought the 64 f100 for 300 bucks and happened to have a 57 312 4bbl in it. traded the 36 pto tranny with my neighbor for a full syncro 4 speed pto tranny out of a 59 f600. think i have enough scrap iron around to finish the build. im using a combination of both front ends. yesterday i cut out the front cross member and built a new one so i could lower it 5" from the 1 1/2 ton stock height. as i build it i will post more pics
here is what i started with;

here it is cab sitting on 64 frame. bagged that idea!

here it is in present stage sitting on origional frame with rear clip made out of 64 frame tacked in place

and a pic of engine
31 closed cab ford
36 ford truck
59 buick electra
74 rupp centaur
89 olds cutlass 442 international quad 4
90 beretta gtz ho quad 4
85 vette, 3 kikker bobbers and a case of pbr!
