Title: 49 5 window build
Post by: hollisc10 on September 02, 2015, 09:32:36 PM: Done it again sold my 50 but bought a super solid 49 that could pass as its twin. My plans are to leave this one the factory short bed length but still use the s10 frame. The truck is currently on the original frame with a sub frame of some kind. I will build me a driver then build another to trade on. Black truck is a solid truck the green one is rough but I have another cab that's 10x better I'll use.

Yea I was thinking the same thing new tires wouldn't last long on it I'd say.

Shifter is in and I'm gonna bend my floor tunnel today! I might get it all in and the floor finished before the weekend.

I had to cut my front end back loose and pull the radiator support out so I can have room for the upper radiator hose. Also got my mounts to hold the 5.3 computer in place. I've still got a long way to go but slowly getting there! I got all the lights wired front and back and mounted all the stuff under the dash I made brackets so I didn't have to drill any new holes in the firewall. I was trimming my radiator support with the radiator in and knicked a core so I'm waiting on a new radiator to start mocking the hoses up with. I asked my boss if I could use the tig welder at work to fix it and he gave me the ok so I'll do that at a later date I hope! I am hoping to take it to get it wired up by the end of the week of all goes well. I still need to paint the inside and get the doors on but shouldn't be a problem. I also had my computer flashed today along with another that I'll use for a future build on the 52 gmc I have. I'd like to be driving it before thanksgiving if everything works out!

Someone hammered it in so I hammered it back out! I've heard you can cut them out and flip them tho.

I haven't had one of those trucks since before I got married and that's been forty years!! If it wasn't for the FC 170 I have in the works, I'd be looking for a nice five window myself!!

Thanks! I think so to its got a real good look going so far. I've got another Fulton visor that I plan on using. My wife says it looks just like my last truck that I built its twin.

I'm starting to wear down I'm glad this one is almost done! You are making good progress and that Coe truck would look cool as a low car hauler!

Post by: Blackwater on November 11, 2015, 03:26:52 PM: I really don't want to drop the Jeep too far! I worked my A$$ off finding all of that one ton 4WD stuff and I'd have to move the engine back to get past the front differential.

This one is somewhat an homage to a truck my dad had when I was a kid. He bought it new and we split, widened, and raised the bed and used it for plowing snow. Back then we hauled cinders to spread where ice would form to keep it from getting slick. Today I took the hood back off and put the new cowl rubber on to reduce the rattling going down the road. I live in Stearns Ky it's a little over 3 hour ride for me but hoping to make it with the truck! I'll let you know when it gets close.

There is a small slot in the channel that you can start the seal in. I have had to pry the channel open a bit to get the rubber in and then close it back with a hammer and punch after its in.

Yeah, those fenderless cars are bad in rain. The water spray comes off the front tires right into your windshield.
