Finally killed my Yota
« on: December 28, 2011, 04:13:50 PM »
About a mile from work on HWY 92 a small 4 door car rolled out in front of me.  There where too many other cars at the intersection to swerve out of the way without rolling my Cruiser so I hit them head on.  I had about 50 ft to pump the breaks but that didn't do it.  Hit the other car in the drivers door, front fender at i'm guessing 45 to 50 MPH.  The driver of the car did not even look in my direction, and didn't survive the accident either.  Thank GOD I was alone in my truck!  I have a fractured sternum and bruised knee, but other than that I am OK.  I'm praying for the family of the other driver.  But angry at the same time because there was no insurance on the other vehicle, and I have a bad feeling that the other party involved may be an illegal immigrant.  Thankfully I was not at fault and there where several witnesses at the scene.  I will miss my AnnCruiser  :'( :'( :'( :'(, thank GOD for big steel ARB bumpers!

I don't even know how to respond to this... I'm so sorry this happened to you. (And for the other driver as well) It is a very unfortunate situation for the family of the other driver, but at the same time, with no insurance, probably no license, and illegal in the country (if indeed this turns out to be the case), the whole thing should not have happened. Hopefully you'll be alright and you won't let this torture you. It clearly was not your fault, and it is not you who needs to ask for forgiveness in this mishap. I hope everything works out for you, and your injuries heal without any permanent damage. It's not worth getting mad about though, after all, someone lost their life. THAT just sucks. Take care of yourself, and do whatever the docs tell you to as far as caring for your injuries.

I think Wannabearat said it all real well, glad your OK, sad there was a death.
Think how bad it could have been in a rod.
keep us up to date on how this progresses.

Why does everything happen to you? Thank God you weren't hurt worse than you are. So are you out of work for a while? Maybe you can get back to work on BETTY.

Sorry to hear about the accident, it's tough to hear of these kinds of accidents. Everyone makes mistakes, but this one was fatal..... Definitely a good thing your baby boy wasn't in the SUV. hope you heal up soon...

Thank you for the prayers everyone!  I am very glad I was alone in my car and thank GOD i wasn't in Betty!  I hate HWY 92 its so dangerous!  Sometimes on my way to work I get passed (while I'm doing the speed limit)  by some ass whole doing 70?!  on a 2 lane, no median HWY!!!   Maybe I just need to build a rat tank!!!

Ya very glad that your with us. Another vote that trucks are safe. But also on the same note a sad ending to the story about the other driver.

I am extremely lucky!  The doctor at the hospital said I was the first person she had meet that had fractured there sternum more than once!  I am feeling alot better today barely took any meds I think I am healing up fast!  Usually after a high speed collision your entire body is sore but I was surprised the next day I was just stiff in my injury areas.  I definitely have a BAD ASS GUARDIAN ANGEL!!!!  Here is my new daily driver.... got to take her for a test drive today.  Hope to have financing done by the end of the week at the latest.  37" tires! the mirrors are taller than I am and I stand 5'10" tall!!! only 150K miles, going to have to build some custom steps for the little dude tho!

LOL Power lift sounds bad ass, maybe I should add some onboard air and a mobile welder too that would make the cake I think!!!

They are my favorite!  I grew up in an FJ62, then my first was an 85' FJ60, then my FJ80, now this 84 FJ60.  I'm a land cruiser junky!

Sorry to hear about the accident & glad you are ok &  healing well. Nice replacement ride. Have had several off roaders myself & these old yotas are definitely some of the coolest.
Don't buy it, build it!!!
If you are afraid to drive it then what good is it.
Tire smokin' & gear jammin' does a body good.

I know totally un Rad rod related ;) But had to go test out the new AnnCruiser yesterday in the snow! So much fun I always dreamed I would have an old Rod to drive around and a 4x4 truck, now I have both? I feel kind of spoiled!!!!
