I am becoming the proud owner of a '67 Malibu Wagon, having spotted this amazing car while driving to a truck-stop in California. I contacted the owner and was able to look the car over the next time I returned to the truck-stop, and have since negotiated a price that I will pay after I finish my three-month run and drive back to the truck-stop in a rent-a-car.
This car has beautifully patina'ed red paint which I'd like to 1.) stabilize, and 2.) add to/improve upon.
Specifically, I'd like to first stabilize the existing (old, but NOT original) red paint job, with it's natural patina, paint the roof (egg-shell) white, and add a matching patina to the roof, before applying some non-patina'ed pin-striping...
What would be the best technique for stabilizing the existing paint job and adding a matching patina to the paint I want to add to the roof???
