Those appear to be 1942=48 ford spindles.

I think hotwheels is right.

They are excellent spindles; you can get lots of aftermarket stuff that will fit them.  And it appears that they already have the bearing adapter installed that enables you to use later-model disc brakes, specifically Dodge or Chevy.

Good score.

It did come with disc brakes, now i need to figure out the steering. with out modifying the spindles what would be the best steering box to use?

It depends on what type of steering system you want:

Here's diagrams from Speedway catalog:

This is what I am not sure about, I would like to go with the vega style steering.  does this mean that I wold need to cut off the the tie rod arms and get the bolt on type so that I can have a double tie rod arm on the passanger side?

What style would you recommend?

If it still has the double tie rod end, you can make it work.

it has singles on both sides

So if i want to go with the vega style box i would have to cut the tie rod arms off and go with the after market ones, is this correct?

I'd be inclined to keep the original steering arms. You have them, they'll work and it'll cost you nothing to keep them - plus they are authentic vintage components. It would be additional work and expense to cut and replace them.  Having built cars with both types of steering, I'd go with the side steer. Despite what Speedway says, side-steer works fine. There probably are more side-steer rat rods than cross-steer. Cross-steering is more common in street rods. Plus with side steer you can use any junkyard manual box.

Don't you hate it when everyone on forums tells you how you should build your car???     :P

Absolutely not, as I stated in the beginning this is all new to me.

I do have a question if I keep the tie rod arms on the spindles do I have to heat and bend them up.  They are real close to the ground.

That would depend on the axle that you use , and are they below the bottom of the rim ? ( scrub line )

According to that chart mine would be 42-48 ford car spindles,  great info thanks for the link.
