'27 Ford Model T Coupe
« on: May 30, 2014, 08:25:19 AM »
Recently one of our club members , Hal Lee , fell victim to cancer which ultimately ended the life of a really great guy that I was able to call one of my best friends . I was able to work with him over the last few years on his last project , the '27 T , although he was not able to get it finished before his passing . His daughter contacted me about finishing the car and I gladly accepted .
He found the car half buried in sand in New Mexico and brought it home , disassembled it and had it acid dipped and the build was on . I took several pictures of the car in his basement shop as he was working on it several years ago .

And now to current times in my shop . started the floor and all the underbracing . The rear deck lid was just to narrow causing a huge gap , so I made a new side to the deck lid on the shrinker / streatcher to correct the gap .

He has an aluminum head , roller cam small block for it with tunnel ram . 350 trans  . As far as paint goes his daughter wants a shiny paint , but i'm still working on her for a nice low gloss paint job . the rotisserie is thier's , I wish it was mine though. I will take it outside for a nice sandblasting next week and start on the body work . He was a great guy so I will do everything I can to make him proud of the build .

Dude , let me tell you that thing is bad ASS !! I am going to try and do some labor on trade for that thing .It is so nice to just crank the handle and roll the body to any position , I have spent more time sitting on a stool welding than ever before , no awkward positions . It's great

Dude, that is kool. And I know that the finished product will be outstanding. And good luck in the trade fore. How much more easy can it get than to crank and sit and weld.

Saturday we took the body of the rotissery and did a test fit on the frame , all the body mounts lined up perfectly that he had laid out . I can't wait to get the correct engine in it . This morning I started on the trans tunnel making patterns on paper then transfering them to sheetmetal .

Wow, slick!  How do you roll the driveshaft part so perfectly round? Ha ha, I bend them over my knee but they are never round.

I have a 40" slip roll , you can make a stove pipe out of sheetmetal if you want . I bought that from woodward fab just to do tunnels with . It works very well and it will also do a tapered roll for the trans area also .

Slip roll's are awesome, I used one to make the tapered extensions that I added to my Speedway pipes; could have done it without it, but it would have been a real bitch...
