47 dodge truck
« on: May 05, 2013, 07:00:59 PM »
After kicking it around I decided to NOT to tear down this old dodge truck and build it back on the chevy blazer chassis as I originally planned.  First my 16 year old daughter had claimed the blazer as her own and second this truck is just all there and not in that bad shape.  So I am working on getting this truck running.  The spark plugs have rusted off of the head so I am working on taking the head off...one bolt at a time.  The engine serial number starts with S11-  according to the websites that decode them says it's a 1946 desota motor....crazy but it did come with one dodge hubcap and one desota hubcap....maybe a replacement motor at one time,,,

Thanks I would consider airbags and a chopped top after it is running.

Even if it doesn't get chopped I say air bag it.
Without a doubt leave the rusty appearance.

Truck looks great, couple of wheels, and a running motor/trans and you've got a winner.

Coincidentally I just saw a '46 Dodge PU on Ebay today and fell in love with it. Here's the listing and below is a video that may inspire you:

Why not stick with the Dodge theme and go with a 360/727 or some other Mopar combo? There's plenty available out there...

I have to agree on staying with the dodge theme too, if possible. We have a few 318's for sale on craigslist here locally. Think that would just ad to the badness of your ride.

I am headed to the junk yard next week to do some scouting.  I think an 88 or later s10 chassis is on my future radar screen..

Changed direction.  The blazers out and a chevy 1/2 ton 4x4 pickup is on.  It runs and drives so that will help.  I will post pics as we progress.
