1951 Chevrolet Fleetside
« on: March 17, 2017, 02:15:35 PM »
I went and looked at a 1951 more door Fleetside auto Guy wants $2000 for it. Kinda rough. Needs a gas tank. Needs interior put in it. (most of it's there) most of the trim is there with 2 and 3 pieces of each. Another doghouse. glass is all there but seperated(delaminated I think it's called)  Flat black. 4 may pops. 3 speed on the coluum 6 cylinder that runs (never heard it) He's a used car salesman so... but he's kinda a friend too. Good title. Thoughts? Does not appear to be alot of interest in it currently. Think I can make an easy buck on it?

Went back to work on her. Sand blasted the rims and painted them. Been playing with the pearl and flakes! Pix do not give them justice. Almost getting into the realm of lowrider  :o

Been a while since I did anything to her. Been doing some wiring on the old girl. Everything I touch is only finger tight. Got the dash scattered across my bar. Retro-fitted a 12 volt blower motor onto the old squirrel cage. Now I need to build a short spacer because the old one was 3 1/8 tall and the new one is 3 1/2 inches tall(deep). Got the transister for the gas guage. The temperture guage ain't gonna work as someone cut the capilary tube. Ain't paying 1 grand for a replacement set of guages!

Been doing a bunch of non descript stuff on her. Fixing stuff the person before me butchered up. If you are gonna sand chrome don't use 36 grit then rattle can it. Also if it's tight when you take it off put it back on tighter than finger tight!

Did some more on her this weekend. Got the red on the dash and got most of the parts that need to be black sanded and ready to go. Tomarrow I'll do the black and clear coat them. Not much to take pix of til later. Oh and Grandpascrazzy, No that's not rattle can on the wheels. I have been playing with a gravity feed paint gun that my Dad bought me several years ago. The metal lakes are from Eastwood. I've been buying them 2 a payday along with the pearls.

I've got Ratrod clear from Eastwood over a black. Thinking a lowrider type roof to match the interior. As far as performance gonna stay with the 6 cyl-3 on the tree.
