Topic: 1/4 eliptic springs

has any one installed these  and how well did they work , and how hard was it to install .  it looks pretty straight forward to install ?

I just bought the springs 2 days ago , so I will be starting in a week or so to install them . Then I will take pic and post them . I was able to pick up a set at a trailer place that were used 5 leaf . I don't need that many right now I am thinking maybe 3 . we will see

going to install the 1/4 eliptic springs in the front of my 33/34 truck and have been reading everything I can find . the question is this I would like to cut out the front of the frame and have them slide inside , or would it be better to mount on the out side of the frame ?

I have never used this style springs but looks like the rock crawlers use this a lot. Ride ? I'm not sure but looks easy as any other mount. Let us know how it rides and works out . Maybe something others may wanna try.

I will be sure to let you no , will start on it in about a week . sence I could not sale the truck I have tore it apart and stretching  the cab for more  room . moving the back wall panel back about 8 inches . I made all the panels and slowly putting it back to gather

In my experience, the further out toward the wheel you mount springs and shocks, the better the vehicle handles.

I have to agree, I would mount them on the outside of the frame if that's possible with your set up.

thanks for the answer that is the way I will go . the springs I bought at a trailer store are rated at 3500 pounds with 5 leafs . I cant believe I need more than 2 put in but will build it for 3 and remove one if it is to stiff

Those look like the ones I see at the local tractor supply.  I used a pair of them to build the buggy spring on Lockjaw.  The guy I bought the scrap heap from that became my little car had used one to cobble up the front end disaster that came with the car!  It wasn't quite strong enough to suit me, (I could stand on the frame and bottom out the front suspension by bouncing up and down) so I bought another one and a spring tie bolt and made one perfect spring out of the two.

Buy a couple of spring tie bolts. They come extra long. You can reuse your old bolts to set the springs up, (add or remove springs as ended) and then use NEW tie bolts on final assembly.

this is what I have after cutting them down and putting them back to gather , just used 2 leafs on the hope it works fine . Really don't want to go with just one
