Diff swap
« on: August 23, 2013, 04:57:19 PM »
Hey all,its been a while but we've had good weather here, anyways not really a question just an update, the Buick runs a 4:1 to1 ratio and whilst it was ok in 1950 in todays traffic(in the uk anyway)that just dont cut it..at 55mph it was doing around 3000 rpm and at 60 i was doing 16mpg,that probably equates to 14 in US gallons, fine if your running a big horsepower motor but mines 120bhp from new so ill bet its around 70 horses if im lucky, anyway i emaile'd all the US breakers,Buick specialists, asked on all the Buick forums and no one had a 3:4 rear diff or wouldn't ship so i stuck an add on a uk hotrod forum for a 55 century axle and someone got back to me 30 miles from here!!
to say im stoked is an understatement..£125 and its mine.so one job for the winter, then air bags then roof chop!!it never ends :D
pics will follow when i get on with it..
cheers kev

That is pretty awesome, hard to believe you would find the exact part you need so close.
