Any one have experience with a rod with a built 2.3l? Have seen them online but curious how some turned out.

I had a Ford 2.3 in a 1930 Model A pickup. It was turbocharged for awhile, then normally aspirated. Street Rodder mag actually did an article about it. Turbocharged had adequate power, but I was always disappointed with the 4-banger sound. Couldn't wait to get back to the deep rumble of a V8!

PS: I feel the same way about diesel rats.

I personally don't have allot of experience with 2.3's in a rat rod, but i know from some of those little motors i have seen, they can make a ton of horsepower.....however, i would think dollar for dollar, you would be better off just going with a v8 engine......

Oh I agree on the 350, just thinking ahead to a motor we already have.  Maybe in something small and sexy for the wife, like a chopped bug or ghia convertible or something similar.

It was common a few years back but now V8 has taken over it as more interface friendly. 2.3L was also good, good turbocharged with a lot of power. If you wanna go with this it still scores on its power status.
