It's a rusty old truck but I hope to pull it all together and get it back on the road!

Picked this 51 up a few weeks ago down in Taylorsville GA. It's got lots of rust and plenty of Georgia mud. I got just the body and a few new parts he was going to build back on an original frame but frames were to wasted to use. I took the new lowering springs and disc brake front axle he just rebuilt along with some white wall tire on steeliness and traded them to a swb s10 frame and a few 4x4 blazer rear axles.

97 s10 swb frame I'm going to be using.
Started cutting the cab rust out. It'll get new cab corners inner and outer also new rockers and lower cowl sections. I'll make most the flat parts myself like always but ordered some from LMC should have them by Monday so I'm going to start cutting the bad out.
Extras I traded to an s10 and the rear ends.
The 5.3 I pulled from a 2001 Tahoe that has 178k miles but still ran good. It to was from Georgia so i should think of a clever name for the truck that has some Georgia history!

Got a little done today. The driver side has all been cut out and the rocker clamped in place until I get the new parts to weld back in.
Looking like I will be cutting the bottom of the dash off at some point (full of holes) might mount the radio down low in this one!

Don't know about that but I'm hoping to get it together quick. The lower dash had quite a few holes so might have switch it out or cut the bottom out all together.

Schweet. Can't wait to see this build. Is that s10 gonna be short wheel base wise or will the length be perfect. Just curious for my own builds.

I'll have to cut the bed and running boards down but it'll still have a 6' box.

If I recall correctly, there are three lengths of S10 frames. Long bed standard cab models are perfect length for shortbed Chevy 3100 trucks. You can use an extra cab chassis but you'll have to shorten the frame rails at the factory splice. If you use a standard cab short bed S10, now you are talking shortening the old Chevy box. Did I get that right hollisc10?

This from the EZ Chassis Swap website:

1947 thru 1953 Chevy / GMC
BASIC KIT INFORMATION

SHORTBEDS (116" W.B.) USE ANY YEAR OF S10 LONGBED DONOR (118" W.B.)
LONGBEDS (125" W.B.) USE ANY YEAR OF S10 EXTENDED-CAB DONOR (123" W.B.)

Yes I shorten the box and running boards when I use the regular cab shortbed s10. My black truck is the only one that I used an extra cab frame and shortened it to keep from cutting the box down. I've never used a regular cab long box but have heard you need to make off set blocks to center the rear axle.

Done some work on the cab today. Got the rocker inner and outer cab corners done. The front lower door post is in and the cowl patched up. I also made my inner kick panel and got it tached in. Might start on the floor tomorrow and finish the driver side up.

I got the driver side finished up Friday night.
Cut out the passenger side and got it all cleaned up.
Got the new rocker in and front cowl panel welded in. I also cut and welded the cab corner in. This is where I stop for the night after looking at the rest of the floor pan I probably should have cut it all out. Still undecided about what I'm going to do so I'll stop here and ponder on it a day or so!

Not touched it in 2 weeks. My day job has been hectic with OT and keeping me out of the garage. I'm hoping to work on it some Sunday evening if I feel like it! I picked up a cheap harbor freight metal brake today so my bends can now be made cleaner and quicker!

Cut the rest of the floor out. I just didn't like the looks of it after removing the seat riser. Got a little more work to do but it'll be a better cab when I'm done. I still gotta find a dash or figure out if I'm going to fix the bottom of it.
I went to the Street Rod Nationals in Louisville this weekend and managed to leave with nothing. We hit the 127 yard sale on the way home and ended up buying a bed box with a good tailgate! It was an old farm trailer with a Model A rear end and homemade trailer hitch. We took it apart with a $2 hacksaw I bought at the yard sale and a pair of Vicegrips and left the axle and younger there I would never needed that stuff.

Got the rear floor parts made and welded in. Might start getting it on the frame next week if all goes well.
Also hung some wall art on the outside of the garage!
