Newbie here needs trans and rear end info.
« on: May 28, 2016, 11:13:40 PM »
Hello, newbie here.  I have a 53 chevy truck and plan to put a Buick 350 (trying to get 400-500 hp out of motor after rebuild) and I need help deciding what trans and rear end to use.  I lucked into a 74 Buick Regal ($300) and thought about using that trans with the motor and getting an 8.8 Ford Explored 31 spline rear end.  I also though about a TH350 trans with a 4.11 rear engine with posi traction for ($300), please help and give me your thoughts and expertise.

v/r,
Trent

In my opinion if you are going to be in the 400/500 hp range 4/11 is pretty low geared depending on what your doing but it will be screaming down the rd in my 69 c/10 when I had it it was 500 hp and a th 400 went from 4/10 to 3/42 much more drivable my current time up in my car is 400hp with th400 with 3:73 it's awesome unless you are on the expressway hope this helps
