The no clue wth I am doing 1935 IH truck...
« on: March 03, 2013, 11:34:31 AM »
What I started with..

Found it online half ways across the state.  September of last year. I let it set from then till January this year. Just collecting parts and researching what I wanted it to be!

I started off chopping 5 inches out of the cab.

Next is the frame.. I set up the front end and started building..

The wife supervising..

Me supervising!!

Yup.. Thats the wife welding!!   8)

Figuring out engine placement..

Motor and tranny mocked into place..

I figured I wanted suicide doors.  I started off by building my own hinges.,

Next is figuring out the rear suspension and wheelbase....

We are a odd couple really, We enjoy what ever is happening at the moment together!  My favorite story about that is going to the pick-n-pull and stopping by Victoria Secrets afterward together...  lol  I am a lucky man!!

Those IH's are one of my favorite trucks. I love the way the roofline angles forward. Looking good!

Looks good! When we did my boys 35 we only chopped it 3inchs and channeled it 9 to get the ride height we wanted but I'm only 5'7 and he's only 4 yrs old! So room really wasn't an issue til mounting the pedals! They were tight! But I'm sure yours will be awesome! Good luck and keep us updated

Sunday I built a mount for the master cylinder, mount for the brake pedal, the pedal (seen above) , worked over the windshield frame and worked over the rear window trim. The wrench for the gas pedal is just stuck in there on a welding magnet for the moment in the pics.

What style master cylinder did you use? I used a Wildwood pedal/dual master cyl setup and have been fighting brake problems since the start, I'm still able to drive it but the brakes aren't what their supposed to be,any suggestions from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Everything looks really cool so far on yours, keep posting!

Mine is cheapo reman 1969 chevy pick up master, disk/drum and manual brakes...  Been doing some research and Found that early 80s Ford crown vics have residual valves built into each pot of the master.. Thinking of switching to one of them!  Both are less than 30 bucks at most parts stores... plus core..

Thx the problem I'm having is the back brakes aren't real strong disc front drum rear ,everyone said I need a proportioing valve so I tryed that and still no difference, its all new brakes the whole way around but the back are just weak as hell! I even tightened them to the point I couldn't turn the drum and still no change

Allot of people say that about the proportioning valve, but that's not right. You need a 2 psi residual valve and a 10 psi residual valve. The 2 PSI is for disc brake line and the 10 PSI is for drum brake. You can still use the proportioning valve, buy you need the residuals.

Yup.. What Hotwheels said.... If your master is below the floor you need the residual valves!!

My masters are on the firewall, not sure if that makes a difference or not?  But I will definitely check into the  residuals thx a bunch for all the advice ,unfortunately I won't get to try the brakes for a while we just got another 10 damn inches of snow again today! I am so ready for summer!

Still need 10 lb residual valve in rear line to compensate for drum brake spring tension.  Ha ha, don't do like some guys and put it ahead of the brake light switch so the brake lights are on all the time   ::)
