Topic: 55chevy pickup rat rod?????

Has anyone ever seen a 55chevy pickup ratrod truck I mean the kind with the wrap around type window in the front , I've l ooke all over the web looking for something similar to a rat rod but all are made out of trucks with flat windows like 50's trucks. I have a 55 chevy pickup 3600 the truck was in an accident from what I can see from the previous owners, well the modified the whole front end to a 57 apache , they even cut the raidiator rivets support bracket and relocated it crazy but looks kinda kewl but want to go rat rod

Yours kinda' looks like it has '58 front fenders with the headlights singled out.  Those make neat trucks AND great rats!!

I haven't found one that looks like a ratrod like with a 40s grill see mine I dontk where to go from here im going to take off the inner fenders but kinda looms ugly like this

I like it. I would put an engine in it and drive the wheels off without doing anything to the body. Leave it in primer and let nature patina it naturally.

You like it with the fenders and hood or without it ? Without I'd like to achieve the ratrod look of just radiator and lights

I think what he's saying is the truck looks great all buttoned up!!  Maybe slam it and do some kind of wheel treatment!!  You can really make it walk and talk if you want to.  It's a great looking truck, whole or disassembled!!

I've  just been trying to find one that is rat rod without the fenders and stuff seems like no one has made one if so I can not find it just a bel air type

Many of those with the cab only are set on fabricated frames, some lowered and air-bagged, many set back on the frame as well.  I saw one done that way but I don't have pics of it.

Well I started working on it and discover alot of bodo bodywork even big ass whe cancer covered with bondo l ooke good until I started digging into it . So the reason I want to go rat rod maybe exdend the front axle upward more is because it was wrecked saw they bent the frame and si 've they cut the fro t wnd to a different fro t end they modified raidiator supports and is not original any more also the doors didn't line up rubbed with the fenders when opening the door

Rust can be your friend!!  There's the opportunity to patch it or let it show and ignore it.  You can repair the frame or modify it o get that dropped and stretched look.  There are lots of parts out there that can be adapted..  That pic is of a thirties cab, I think.

This is the place where your imagination and perhaps your skills or those of people you know can create a unique piece that suits you to a T!!

So awesome bro thanks for the 411 . I think I might go rat rod I've been looking at it and might make some skins for where the body should be smooth by the doors. I was think was if I moved the front axle forward but what ya think of a offroad ratt, give it some height and travel ?

Any pics of one as ratrod im thinking of extend the front axle to the front of truck any opinions welcome
