I want an oil pump on my 235 I think....

Hello everybody :)  Im thinking the first step I need to take to supe up my Bel Air is a littttttle more oil flowing thru the engin.  Remember Ana is not a mechanic LOL so I need some imput from you know it alls  ;) 
I was thinking some sort of externaly mounted oil pump that distrubutes oil into the valve cover???? what do you think???

PS... I miss hanging out with you guys been supper freakin bizzy lately ;D

I think those engines had an internal oil supply line to the valve train . Take the valve cover off and give her a look , I think it's in the center on the right hand side .

Ana, Greybeards right they do have an internal oil galley. What you need to do is get the engine number and check what year 235 you have. For like 3 or 4 years in the 50's chevy build the 235's with solid lifters, so you need to know what year engine you have.
Determining what engine that is under the hood of your ol' chevy can often be your first task when determining the originality of an old car, but it's not hard. All you have to do to find out the year and displacement of that engine is scrape the crud off the pad just behind the distributor and read the the engine's serial number -- the letters and numbers in front of the actual engine serial number will tell you the year and displacement of the engine.

Please go here after you find your engine # and see what is that you have.:
