1969 Mustang

Not sure if a 69 Mustang can be a Rat Rod, but all my muscle car buddies have banished me for what I have done.

I'm doing the seats now.  I have not seen anything on the internet like what I am trying so I hope it works.

I live in Florida so I wussed out and new did AC!!  That went against my plan to use stuff laying around in my shop for this project.  The underside got Subframe connectors, floorboards, new suspension, front disc brakes and about 4" of drop.  I am putting a SBF with a 700R4 in this.  It is a 363 blower motor with all the go fast parts.

After I figure out the shift lever and transmission hump I will be ready for the floors.  I need ideas!!  I really did not want to use carpet.  I have put down one layer of dynamat extreme (the whole interior is covered) and would like another sound pad layer then the floor.  Any suggestions?

Thanks.  Here is the seat idea.  I took them down to bare metal and liked the look of the high backs so much I decided to not cover them.  I am going to make "distressed" leather cushions for the back, head and butt so most of the seat will remain exposed.  I can't believe no one on google images search has done this.  I hope it will turn out, as the standard TMI upholstery set like I did in my Fox Body would have been cheaper.......can't believe how much used looking leather is!!

Jef73machI has his Yellow Terror scheduled to go in for a cage the first of the year!  I'm trying to convince him to go ahead and have it tubbed while it's there.  It ain't a rat, but it's a bad Toby!!

We have dropped the from end and installed a CalTracs suspension modification along with the stroker Cleveland engine and a built T&C Top Loader.  Also have a built 9" and four wheel disc brakes installed.

I'm digging it! Just give them a little more cushion than an Army seat LOL I used used seats out of an ambulance that had sat around the bodyshop to many days. Just wiped them down with an armorall style cleaner.

Love those 71-73s!!  I am going to to start thinking about the roll cage here pretty soon.  It will be combo of a CJ7 cage and other stuff in the scrap pile.

I am getting good foam for the seat cushions!

Fordstrokers is building my long block.   It is just as cheap as building my own and heck of a lot better built than I could do.  I have to keep my tires skinny. It will have over 500 at the wheels so I do not want it hooking up or I start breaking things. LOL.  The 700R4 is a Tobby's Stage 2 and the website claims it is good to 700hp.....so they say.  This car is going to be a highway cruiser though.  High gearing, auto  and soft suspension.

I had actually built this motor for it, but it went in the Fox Body (daily driver) attached to a T5.  It is only making 265rwhp and I really wanted something with a buttload of useless power in the 69.

Roll bar installed
Gates Shifter.  (fake) I used a gates shift lever and ground notches etc.  Lot of work for that!
Back seat in.

Bumper.  Shortened it.  Drilled holes and cut fake seam looking grooves in areas.  Put rivets in holes and welded them on the backside.

Radiators for:

AC
Engine (still need that one)
Tranny cooler
Air/Water Intercooler

Cold Air intake.  Lot of work went into this idea.  Using the air coming in that grille where the windshield wipers are to feed the airbox.  Lot of welding inside the airbox to separate the water from the air.  This will bring the air in to the rear of the supercharger.  That is a 1980s Trans Am scoop on the fender.  It is used to service the filter.

This extra real estate for the Air/Water intercooler was made with the steel top of an old home stereo.   Bargain!

Still waiting on the other 4.5" gauge from SpeedHut....hence the big hole.  It is a combo fuel/oil/temp/volt gauge.

Spent the entire day getting the intercooler plumbed.  Wasted $300 on SS hose and AN fittings.  Ripped it all out 20 minutes later.  Every fitting leaks and all that BS looks like complete crap.   :-X :-X :-X

Going to black rubber hose. and I will hit those radiators with a flat black spray bomb.  What the f#@k was I thinking????

Motor and Tranny in and out.....  How is that for porn?  I think I finally got it all to fit.  Added door bars and a bitchin emblem to replace the pony.
