I removed the plastic bedliner as it was missing the part for the tailgate.... picked up a toolbox for $50.... found more surface rust

 started on some bodywork

 rust.... check

inside it wasnt too bad

for some reason I painted the wheels silver

more poormans bodywork

 put on a shift knob

hated the silver so I painted the wheels fire red

found a stash of old ford emblems

was gonna use the ranger one , but it broke when I tried to install it so I used this one

made a custom antenna..... cut off 12" tapped part of  a metal valve stem over it and used a skull valve cap and a rubber vacuum cap to make up for the extra space

modified the grille emblem.... seperated the 2 halves with a hair dryer, the chrome came out of the ford script so I hit it with silver paint, sanded the blue off the back and painted it red

the ford letters where peeling off the tailgate

so I removed them

didnt like the look so I hand painted them

came up with some money to hit my local pic n pull ......picked up a full size spare, a LF light  bezel and some window cranks from an older ranger

during that trip the shift knob fell apart

so I swapped it out with the shift knob from my other rig

found these one day while out shopping with the wife

here is another cool thing I did with an emblem out of my stash

took off the duralast emblem that was held on with double sided tape... drilled a few holes and installed it

through some horse trading with a friend I got these mirrors

on another pick n pull run I picked up a shift boot from an older ranger...its shorter, I did need to do a few modificatios to make it work

on the same run I also snagged this light knob from the same ranger

one day while taking my wife to work the muffler came apart

the only auto parts stores  near me are  napa and car quest.... so I made the 35 mile trek to a regular auto parts store and picked up this for under $50

here is the finished install...wanted a good mellow sound that didnt sound ricey..... sounds good, I like it

the mirrors were hard to use in the stock location , so I moved them

for now what I did was attach a piece of sheet metal inside the door with sheet metal screws to cover up the holes

and this truck is what inspired me to do this build

I  still have more in store for my truck.......I am working without any kind of budget at the moment...I had a brain injury back in october 2012 and cant work at the moment.... so I will update my build when I do more work to it, so far I have used stuff I had laying around , junkyard parts and  paint and some other stuff from the local walmart...lol

That is exactly how I try to build cars. That's why I named my last build the "Scrap Rod."  Keep up the good work!

had some driving lights I wasnt using, so I put them on

and then a few weeks ago I got into a fender bender with a lowered s10...

I was making a left turn and was at a dead stop and he planted the brakes and ran into me... was ruled my fault just because I was turning left... even though I wasnt moving and he was speeding..... started repairs by removing the damaged parts

pounded out the bumper, flattened out the plate....on the way home I lost the LF hubcap, so I took them off

the factory spare tire carrier under the bed rusted out and I hate under the bed tire carriers, so I made a new one out of a few useable parts

Sorry about the front end damage, but it looks like you've got it under control.

Your truck ooks better with the hubcaps; check on Ebay or junkyards (Car-Part.com) - should be able to find a cheap replacement.

That is incredible how some law enforcement act. I was always under the impression that the person who rear ended a vehicle was always at fault. Wow.....

the interior is red.... so all the red accents kinda go with the interior.....wheels, grille emblem, hood prop rod, tailgate lettering, seat belt bolts and seat mounting bolts have all been painted red....still need to get some driving or fog lights to replace the ones broken from the fender bender...... looking at a new steering wheel.... been looking at a 3 spoke grant classic series ....

picked up some cheap utility lights to put on the front......right now I am working on the interior.... I stripped the floors down to bare metal and found some surface rust under the tar paper crap the put on the floor... still want to get a old school looking steering wheel and might make the shifter longer....if anybody has other ideas that would look good I am all ears

You're doing a great job so far.  I just got a cool '47 Packard flying swan hood ornament for my car. Something like that would look great on the Ranger.

yeah I need to go to the junkyard and just look around.... a few things I am looking for are the ranger emblems they had on late 60s early 70s ford trucks and a ranger glove box emblem from a 70s ford truck
