Title: 53 GMC 1.5 ton pickup frame question
Post by: josh42177 on July 10, 2018, 12:20:58 PM
Hi, I was thinking of picking up a 53 GMC 1.5ton for a ratrod build.  This would be my first build.  I'd like to get it pretty low, but I see that the frame on those heavy trucks are straight BACK in the rear.  Can anyone tell me if there's a weld on kit that would let me raise the frame 6 or 8 inches in the back?  If it has to be fabricated, that's a little beyond my ability.  I am going to relocate the axle closer to the cab.  Thanks for the help!

I'm not aware of any kit to do what you're looking to do.  If your welding/fabricating skills are good enough, you can probably do it pretty easily. Take into consideration what your plans are for lowering the front of the truck and any modifications or upgrades to the suspension, front AND rear.

I'd want to know more before I make any suggestions or offer any advice.  AND welcome to the madness, from Middle Tennessee
