Flames?
« on: September 23, 2016, 08:10:28 PM »
How do the lowriders get those big billowy flames? 1st part is without propane  second is with. What am I doing wrong? Heard putting propane in would do it. Also heard putting raw gas in upstream from a glow plug.

HELP!!!

Saw several last nite and they were dumping raw fuel into the exhaust! One was putting in so much in that it was actually leaking gas out of the pipe

Don't know about the newer rides, but the old distributor/spark plug method may be the same.  Spark plug threaded into one or two exhaust pipes close to motor, rev the motor to get fuel flowing ,then pull foot off the gas and push a switch that changes spark going from motor plugs to put power to exhaust plug, and bingo, you now have a plug firing in the exhaust lighting unburnt fuel. Speedway or ???? for the switching and wire details. Hope dis helps.

Some of those guys use actual flame throwers.  You have to greatly richen a propane setup to make big flames.

A couple of electronic fuel injectors and a couple of spark plugs with a fuel supply pump and a trigger off of your ignition to a regular coil will also work.  Trigger the injectors with the appropriate voltage and the coil can be interrupted with a switch.  A DPST Toggle or rocker switch and you're controlling both with one flip of the switch.
