hard to see SW gauges
« on: December 23, 2013, 09:23:48 PM »
Hey thought I'd toss this out.  I have a set of older Stewart Warner gauges that are real hard to read in the dark.  New bulbs (53 14.4 amp) yes the faces are clean, and not scratched, and yes I have looked for LED's, but haven't found em, not sure they'd do much good anyway.  Could be just the way they were designed.
Any Ideas?

Maybe would benefit from a better ground?

I would suggest checking all the grounds.....even where the flat plates that hold the gauge down.

Good ideas, and a solution I always seem to forget bad grounds.  Also noticed the light switch may have a dimmer that is not working well.  The switch is a pull knob, on off, and turning it gives varied results.
Thanx for the ideas, any others?

Another good idea is when you clean the grounding area put some di electric grease on it it will help connection and help to prevent corrosion as well I'm pretty sure....or you can always mount a light over them lol it is a ratrod
