three 2-barrel carb setup
« on: May 31, 2013, 08:53:29 PM »
I have a 3x2 barrel carb setup I am wanting to use. I plan on running just
The center carb for now.  Just wondered what I needed to do to run it only.
Thanks

What is it on, reason I ask is some run better than others on center carb only. Assuming it is common SBC, biggest thing is to make sure the two "dead" carbs don't allow air into the intake, once you feel they are leak proof (machined butterflys, or block off plate is a common method) your just running a two barrel intake and carb. Now you can attach dummy fuel lines and linkage and you be driving.

I ran on the center carb of a tripower for about a year until I got around to rebuilding the set. Obama is correct:

I bought some aluminum-backed gasket material (aluminum sheet on one side, paper gasket on the other) at NAPA and made block-offs from it for the bases of the outer two carbs. I deactivated the secondary linkage by removing the slide stop on the connecting arm - that way it still looked operational. Then I cut down some plastic plugs I had in my parts bin and stuck them  in the fuel inlets of the outer carbs to plug off fuel flow. I think they were old outlet plugs that come with new brake master cylinders, but they fit pretty snug.

Ran fine on the center carb only, but made a world of difference when I got them all going.

Thanks so much . I am missing the progressive part of my linkage. So
I will just run center till I get the rest.

I need to know the screw size of a rochester 2g carb. The ones that screw the base to the throttle body part.
There are 3 that screw in from the bottom.

Don't know the screw size, the tri-power set looks cool. You forgot to mention that it's a tri-power conversion to 4 barrel intake, still  can run just one, all three might give ya the same as 4 barrel when going thru converter. I have an extra Tri power set with intake if'n ya want one.

PS. forgot to mention, with the 4 barrel to tri power conversion plate, you want to be extra cautious of air leaks.
