55 Buick Century
« on: November 19, 2015, 09:51:34 PM »
Paid for a 55 Buick today. Going to pick it up tomorrow morning. It was on an online auction, I bought it off these photos alone. The add says it has a title, original buyers invoice and motor and trans. Even has some of the chrome and glass in the car. I hope its the original 322 Nailhead since I have wanted one for years. I am excited to see whats in the backseat and trunk.

Looks Good! I Love the 4dr Hardtops!!!
Supposedly, the 4 hole fenders indicate the high horsepower version.
At least that was what I was told about a zillion years ago :) :)

This is the original paperwork from the dealership. The first owners insurance card and state tax receipt. There is a bill of sale in 1981 showing that the first owners wife sold the car for $500 to either a son or grandson. Clear Arkansas title dated 2003. These papers rarely stay with a car, regardless of the year model.

Got some tires on it and unloaded it.

This car is pretty solid., So far the only holes in the floors I have found are in the spare tire well. Going to get the inside cleaned out and see what im working with.

Hell I think it will run. Ill put a wrench on it and see if its free. Going to order a new Optima 6 volt battery for it and see if anything still works. All the wiring is still here. Its just been sitting in the weather for who knows how long.

Great News the engine is Free and it turns over just fine. Also found that 55 is a 12V system which is great news to me.

I think I may just finish putting all the Chrome back on and wipe it down with some linseed oil, put the glass in it, wipe down with some linseed oil and drive it like this for awhile.

Kool save. But do you or did you ever go through all of the old paper work and try to imagine what it was like for that first owner ?
