Some Ideas
« on: December 30, 2012, 08:34:16 AM »
Right then originally i was going to satin black the Buick de trim it(except the windscreen trims)and have all the chrome bumpers in gloss black apart from the one tooth on the grille that has been re chromed,so it will have one chrome tooth standing out..but part of me thinks should i just flat the original paint back and leave it a that??
its very flaky and through to bare metal/primer in places so it will need flatting off,i think i read somewhere there's  an oil you can rub on that protects it..thoughts please.
Oh yeah if black i would also leave the bonnet(Hood vents)chrome too,you can see the one good chrome tooth in the pic..

I like the original paint myself...........One thing i would look at doing is finding some of those spot light mirrors for the doors. That thing would look tough with spot lights...As far as the grill, try shooting it and leaving a tooth, if you don't like it, just remove the paint....the chrome will still be there.

With that type of set up, you don't have to drill big holes in your car, it can be used as a mirror right on the door.

Something like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-ACCESSORY-SPOTLIGHT-MIRROR-1940-50s-CLAMP-MOUNT-/290837970273?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43b74b3d61&vxp=mtr

Appleton's by any other name. Current bid of $50 pretty good by, specially if they work.

Oh and the tooth, me I would go for the Vampire look.

I was gonna head to the place that I mentioned about the Buick parts, but about 4 inches of snow..........Who knows if cabin fever strikes?/

The fella has got back to me regarding shipping,he said it will cost $60 to $70 USD  so with the final cost of the light/mirror shipping and import duties  it may be a little bit on the expensive side...ill have to keep on looking though,im certain it shouldn't cost that much, mabe he just dosen't want to ship to England :(
